  • The competition will be held in English. All participants must be fluent in English and all materials must be presented in this language.
  • All participating students and mentors are required to follow the rules and guidelines shared by the event organiser.
  • Participants must select one of the categories announced by the organiser and make sure that their experimental and investigative project fits in that specific category. You should follow the scientific method throughout your research-based project. IGO does not accept projects that are demonstrations, explanations of concepts, models, or kits.
  • Although your research project may be part of a larger study undertaken by professional scientists, you can only use the section of the study in which you were actively involved.
  • All participants MUST complete an online registration and submit the required documents using the IGO website.
  • All participants must be accompanied by an adult supervisor. A parent, a teacher, or a project supervisor can be an adult supervisor.
  • To complete the online registration procedure, students must submit an abstract as well as a copy of their research paper.
  • Before the judging time, copies of project abstracts will be provided to the IGO judges. All students are required to produce their own copies of their research paper, project journal, and other materials as they may come handy during the competition. It is not mandatory to display such materials, although it is strongly advised.
  • Any ongoing project is welcome to participate in IGO 2022. Only the most recent research will be used to evaluate the project. The display should include the most recent research as well as a comparison of it to prior data. For multi-year programmes, students must complete and submit a copy of the Project Continuation Form.
  • All team members should be completely engaged in the project and have excellent knowledge of all parts of it. The coordinated efforts of all team members are evaluated using the judging criteria for team projects.
