
Welcome to IGO
We invite students nationwide to participate in our newest event for our school, IGO—the International Greenwich Olympiad. The Olympiad features 13 categories, including Environmental Sciences, Creative Writing, and Sumo Lego Challenge, among others. Participants aged 10 to 18 may choose any category to present their projects.
The Olympiad will take place on 24th June 2025. Students will present their work in person at the exhibition held at Queen Mary University. Our judges will review the submissions and award bronze, silver, or gold medals to deserving participants.
We aim to ensure that every student across the UK can participate in the Olympiad. Below are the requirements to attend:
Prepare your project and if it is a scientific project, include an abstract. Instructions on how to write an abstract can be found here.

What are the steps?
Submit your project and abstract for our judges to review. If your project meets the criteria, it will be accepted.
Receive confirmation of the event date, time, and any necessary instructions.
Attend the Opening Ceremony at Oxford Town Hall (optional but recommended).
Attend the Exhibition at Queen Mary University (mandatory).
Attend the Award Ceremony at King’s College, Greenwood Theatre (optional but recommended).
All participants will receive hard-copy certificates and medals. If you are unable to attend the ceremony but require hard-copy certificates and medals, we can post them to you for a charge of £20.
Please note:
The IGO Olympiad does not provide the following:
Transportation or accommodation.
Meals or city excursions.
Medals or hard-copy certificates for those who do not attend the ceremony.
